

India remains vigilant amid the evolving situation in Gulf countries, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said. He stated that Indian embassies in Gulf nations are continuously issuing advisories for the safety of Indian citizens. The government has also set up dedicated helpline numbers for Indians in the region. Jaishankar noted that the Indian Embassy in Tehran is functioning fully and that the government is in constant communication with authorities in Gulf countries. Indian airlines are making arrangements to bring back citizens who wish to return to India. Assistance is also being provided to Indians in places such as Doha and Jordan, and he confirmed that he had spoken with Iran’s Foreign Minister regarding the situation there.
Responding to concerns over crude oil supplies, Jaishankar clarified that India will not compromise the nation’s or citizens’ interests for oil. He emphasized that the welfare of Indians remains the government’s top priority and that national interests will always come first. The minister also expressed confidence regarding the country’s oil reserves. He said that nearly 4,000 crore litres of crude oil are stored in strategic facilities at Visakhapatnam, Mangaluru, Padur, as well as in pipelines, storage tanks, and oil tankers.
