AP Mega DSC Sports Quota Selection Transparent - SAAP MD Bharani

SAAP MD Bharani said that the sports quota selections conducted as part of Andhra Pradesh’s Mega DSC were transparent and dismissed what she described as misinformation surrounding the process. Speaking to the media along with School Education Commissioner Tamim Ansaria at the State Secretariat, Bharani said allegations related to judo were baseless and that certificates submitted by the concerned sports association had been thoroughly verified. She said the selection process followed DoPT guidelines and court directions without making any changes. Bharani also clarified that there was no rule requiring candidates to participate in competitions only while studying in the state and said athletes studying in Karnataka could also participate in competitions conducted by Andhra Pradesh, subject to the required verification by sports associations.

Bharani also rejected what she termed misinformation regarding boxing player Appalaraju and allegations concerning Konada Padmaja’s age. Meanwhile, Tamim Ansaria said a candidate needs to qualify for the Teacher Eligibility Test only once and that the qualification remains valid for life. She said eligibility marks differ for OC, BC, SC, ST and differently abled candidates and clarified that TET carries 20% weightage. TET is mandatory for teachers handling Classes 1 to 8 in both government and private institutions, while PGT principals are exempt from the requirement. She added that every allegation made against candidates would be examined.
