Suspend MLC Thatha Madhu Over Inappropriate Remarks Against Dalit Speaker: Mahesh Kumar Goud

TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud has strongly condemned what he described as inappropriate and objectionable remarks allegedly made by MLC Thatha Madhu against a Dalit Assembly Speaker. Goud said such remarks were against democratic values and the dignity of the legislative system. He stressed that the office of the Assembly Speaker is a highly respected constitutional position and that caste-based or derogatory comments against the person holding the office cannot be justified. Goud demanded that Thatha Madhu immediately apologise for his remarks.

Goud further called for strict action against the MLC under the rules of the Legislative Council, including suspension. He said the Congress would not tolerate remarks that hurt the self-respect of the Dalit community. While acknowledging the place of differences of opinion in a democracy, he said personal insults and caste discrimination have no place in public life. Goud also urged former Chief Minister and opposition leader KCR to condemn the alleged remarks and publicly apologise to the Speaker and the Dalit community. He appealed to all political parties to act responsibly to protect the dignity of the legislative system.
