BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has reaffirmed that the party will continue to fight to protect Singareni Collieries Company Limited from privatisation and alleged corruption, while safeguarding coal miners’ rights and welfare. He said the party would oppose any attempts to weaken the organisation and would not remain silent if workers were treated unfairly. Following the successful Singareni Workers’ Rally held recently in Godavarikhani, KTR chaired a meeting at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday with BRS MLAs and former MLAs from the Singareni region, senior party leaders and representatives of the Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS). The discussions covered the company’s current situation, workers’ concerns, financial issues, tender-related allegations and future strategy. KTR also congratulated party leaders, workers and union representatives for their role in organising the rally.
KTR asked party leaders to highlight the welfare measures introduced for Singareni workers during the previous BRS government, including profit-sharing benefits, dependent employment, medical facilities and support for workers’ families. He urged them to question the government over any delay or neglect regarding workers’ bonuses, profit shares and other entitlements. He also called on the party to question the positions of both the Congress government in Telangana and the BJP-led Central Government on matters affecting Singareni. With union elections approaching, KTR asked BRS and TBGKS leaders and workers to prepare for the contest and strengthen their grassroots presence. The meeting resolved to coordinate efforts to protect the company, secure workers’ rights, restore welfare measures and strengthen the workers’ union.
