Telangana Civil Supplies Department Distributes Three-Month Rice Quota

The Telangana Civil Supplies Department has taken advance measures to ensure uninterrupted distribution of ration rice during the monsoon. As part of the initiative, 6.17 lakh metric tonnes of fortified fine rice allocated for August, September and October 2026 were distributed across the state by September 5, achieving 95.13% coverage. Against the total allocation of 6.48 lakh metric tonnes for the three months, 6,16,806 metric tonnes were delivered directly to beneficiaries through ration shops. Around 99.30 lakh ration cardholders benefited from the exercise, involving nearly 2.95 crore transactions. Distribution had reached 94.2% by August 31 and subsequently rose to 95.13% after the Centre extended the deadline.

To ensure transparent and uninterrupted distribution, Civil Supplies Commissioner M. Stephen Ravindra, IPS, strengthened biometric authentication and online monitoring at ration shops across the state. Rice was distributed through ePoS machines to improve transparency and prevent diversion at the village and ward levels. The department also supplied rice under other welfare programmes during August. Around 4,529 metric tonnes were provided to 27.36 lakh students across 35,371 schools under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, while 13,555 metric tonnes were supplied to 11.72 lakh students in 4,389 welfare hostels. Rice was also distributed to 35,700 Anganwadi centres.
