

New Zealand created history by defeating India by 41 runs in the third and final ODI at Indore, clinching the three-match series 2–1. Batting first, the visitors posted an imposing total of 337 for 8. In reply, Team India were bowled out for 296 despite strong resistance from the middle order.
New Zealand’s innings was powered by brilliant centuries from Daryl Mitchell (137 off 131 balls) and Glenn Phillips (106 off 88 balls), who stitched together a match-defining 219-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Will Young added 30, while Michael Bracewell remained unbeaten on 28. For India, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana claimed three wickets apiece, with Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj picking up one each.
Virat Kohli led India’s chase with a magnificent 124 off 108 balls, which included 10 fours and three sixes. He received valuable support from Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored 53, and Harshit Rana, who struck an impressive 52 off 43 deliveries. However, contributions from the top order were limited, with Shubman Gill scoring 23, Rohit Sharma 11, and Ravindra Jadeja 12. Shreyas Iyer (3) and KL Rahul (1) were dismissed cheaply. For New Zealand, Christian Clarke and Zakary Foulkes picked up three wickets each, while Lennox claimed two and Kyle Jamieson added one.
With this triumph, New Zealand registered their first-ever ODI series victory on Indian soil, ending India’s long-standing dominance in home bilateral ODI series.
