India reportedly supplied nearly 1 million barrels of petrol to Russia during June and July. The increase in supplies comes amid a decline in petrol production at several Russian oil refineries following drone attacks by Ukraine, according to the information available.
With domestic petrol output affected, Russia’s demand for alternative fuel supplies is understood to have increased. In this backdrop, petrol exports from India helped support fuel availability in the Russian market. The shipments recorded during June and July mark an interesting development in the energy trade between India and Russia.
