A Bengaluru woman named Charu Gupta, who has been working for three years, shared an Instagram video comparing the stress of corporate life to school examinations. Her post has gone viral after she said that even after entering the workforce, she still feels as though she is constantly preparing for and writing exams. According to her, the pressure of completing one day’s work and immediately preparing for the next feels similar to the anxiety students experience before examinations.
Gupta said work-related stress continues to follow her even on weekends. Although Saturdays and Sundays are holidays, she finds herself thinking about pending tasks on her laptop. She described the frustration of worrying about unfinished work while simultaneously lacking the motivation to start it. By Sunday night, the anxiety intensifies, often forcing her to open her laptop, finish urgent tasks at the last minute and then worry about how to get through the following day.
Her post received a strong response from social media users, with many saying they could relate to the experience. Several commenters compared corporate deadlines to never-ending examinations, pointing out that students at least get a break after exams, while employees often move directly from one deadline to another. The cycle of fearing incomplete work, postponing tasks and rushing to finish them at the last moment appears to be a familiar experience for many working professionals.
