In the wake of Cyclone Montha, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is heading to Delhi to seek financial assistance from the Centre. According to initial estimates, the total loss is around ₹5,625 crore, with a detailed assessment expected within the next few days. The government estimates that farmers across 450 mandals have suffered severe losses and require nearly ₹900 crore in compensation. Around ₹3,000 crore will be needed for road restoration, ₹350 crore to help coastal families who lost their homes, and another ₹1,000 crore for restoring power and drinking water supply.
Recalling that the state reported over ₹6,500 crore in damages from last year’s rains but received limited central support, CM Naidu has decided to personally visit Delhi. He plans to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and officials from the Disaster Management Department to push for immediate aid.
Before heading to Bihar for NDA election campaigning next week, Chandrababu intends to complete his Delhi visit and secure relief funds for the cyclone-affected regions.
