Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy has made strong remarks about the future of Telangana politics, saying clear political changes are likely in the coming days. He said he wants to contribute to political change with the aim of serving poorer sections of society. If necessary, he would work to bring honest individuals into the Legislative Assembly and play a key role in the process. He also said those who enter politics solely for money cannot remain in the field permanently and suggested that those focused only on money should pursue business instead. Questioning the spread of corruption, he asked how poor people could get justice if officials and political leaders engage in corrupt practices.
Rajagopal Reddy said ministerial positions were not important to him and stressed that the mindset of political leaders and the system itself needed to change. He criticised the practice of providing financial assistance to farmers through welfare schemes while allowing the same money to flow back through belt shops. He said he had succeeded in removing belt shops in the Munugode constituency. Recalling his admiration for former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, he praised schemes such as Aarogyasri, free electricity and fee reimbursement. He also called for stronger monitoring of the fee reimbursement scheme and said spending on students should be viewed as an investment in the future of the younger generation.
