Shocking Update on Indians in the Russian Army

India has provided a fresh update on its nationals recruited into the Russian armed forces. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said there is information on 227 Indian nationals who were recruited into the Russian military. Of them, 139 have been discharged, while 51 have died. Misri shared the figures during a media briefing linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kyrgyzstan.

India is continuing discussions with Moscow to secure the early discharge and repatriation of the remaining Indian nationals still serving in the Russian military. Misri said the issue has been raised with Russia at various levels and on multiple occasions. The Indian Embassy in Moscow is regularly monitoring the cases and coordinating with Russian authorities to facilitate the release and return of the remaining citizens to their families.
