The Telangana government has taken a significant step towards establishing a new international standard zoo in the state, selecting its fourth city for the project. In a major development, the government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vantara Zoo, headed by Mukesh Ambani, to provide guidance on the design, technical specifications, and global best practices for the proposed zoo. Vantara Zoo is renowned worldwide for its expertise in wildlife conservation, rehabilitation, and scientific management, and the collaboration aims to adopt its models in Telangana’s upcoming zoo.
The MoU covers key areas including technical support for wildlife conservation and rehabilitation programs, night safari design and safety protocols, forest-based eco-theme park development, public-private partnership (PPP) frameworks for zoo management, and guidance on modern enclosures, animal welfare standards, and enhancing visitor experiences. Officials stated that the new zoo is expected to become a unique attraction in India and an international model in Asia. The event saw the participation of Principal Secretary of Forests Ahmad Nadeem, Chief Wildlife Warden Dr. C. Suvarna, and MD of Forest Development Corporation Sunita Bhagwat among other officials.
