The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revealed that its revaluation application portal was targeted by multiple cyberattack attempts while students were applying for the revaluation of examination results. According to the board, around 16,000 students had submitted revaluation requests by 3 PM. During this period, attackers allegedly launched a Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack, resulting in nearly 1.5 million login attempts being recorded within just two minutes. CBSE's security systems also detected more than one lakh attempts to gain unauthorized access to files and systems.
Despite the cyberattack attempts, CBSE confirmed that the portal remained fully operational and continued processing student applications without interruption. The board stated that the platform can accommodate over 8,000 users simultaneously and is being continuously monitored by technical teams. The incident comes amid concerns raised by some Class 12 students regarding the newly introduced On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. CBSE has assured students that scanned copies of answer sheets will be made available for verification before applying for revaluation. The board emphasized that its cybersecurity mechanisms successfully blocked the attacks and protected the integrity of the portal.
