Funds Sought for 13 Navodaya Schools and Two AIIMS in AP: Lingamaneni Ramesh

Rajya Sabha MP Lingamaneni Ramesh has submitted a representation to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman seeking budgetary support for establishing 13 new Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Andhra Pradesh and setting up two additional AIIMS institutions in the state. He said Andhra Pradesh currently has 28 districts, but Navodaya Vidyalayas are functioning in only 15 districts, leaving 13 districts without the residential schools.

Ramesh said expanding Navodaya Vidyalayas to all districts would provide better access to quality residential education for talented students, particularly those from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. He also referred to the Union Cabinet’s approval in December 2024 for 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country at an estimated cost of ₹2,359.82 crore over five years. Based on the same framework, he estimated that around ₹1,096 crore would be required over five years to establish the remaining 13 schools in Andhra Pradesh.
