IAS Officer Divya Mittal’s Big Decision.. Bids Farewell to Public Service

Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer Divya Mittal has voluntarily resigned from the Indian Administrative Service after completing nearly 13 years in government service. A 2013-batch officer, she studied at IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore before leaving a finance job in London and returning to India to pursue a career in the civil services. During her tenure, she served in several important administrative positions, including as District Magistrate of Sant Kabir Nagar, Mirzapur and Deoria.

Mittal became widely known for her grassroots work in Mirzapur, particularly her efforts to bring piped drinking water to Lahuriyadah village, where residents had struggled without a reliable water supply for decades. While reports and social media discussions have linked her transfer and resignation to alleged political differences over a water-project inauguration, Mittal herself has not cited political pressure as the reason for quitting. She has said that she had been considering leaving the service for several months and wanted to move on to pursue her own dreams and priorities.
