Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar launched a strong counterattack against Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, criticizing his recent remarks on Telangana. The minister stated that Pawan himself had admitted to his weak political position in Andhra Pradesh and questioned what relevance he holds in Telangana. He clarified that the Telangana government has never opposed investments from Andhra Pradesh and welcomed investors from all regions, just as it does investors from abroad.
Ponnam Prabhakar further alleged that Pawan Kalyan insulted the legacy of people's poet Gaddar by publicly claiming that he had purchased a car for him. He demanded that Pawan apologize to Gaddar's family and supporters, warning that Dalit organizations may raise their voice if he fails to do so. The minister also accused Pawan of repeatedly comparing Telangana to Pakistan and questioned whether he had ever genuinely supported the Telangana movement or paid tribute to the sacrifices of Telangana martyrs. He added that Telangana has always maintained a friendly relationship with Andhra Pradesh and that the government had even made arrangements to welcome Pawan Kalyan as a chief guest during his visit to Kondagattu. Ponnam asserted that public funds allocated for temple development belong to the people and not to any individual, while also alleging that the BJP had failed to provide Pawan with a proper political script. He concluded by stating that Pawan is free to tour Telangana, but criticized him for holding a public meeting on Telangana Formation Day and unnecessarily provoking sentiments.
