Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has triggered a political debate with his recent remarks on the 2029 elections. Speaking at a public event, he expressed uncertainty over whether people would fully recognise his development and welfare initiatives, and even hinted that there is no guarantee of returning to power in the next election.
His comments have drawn criticism from political observers, who say such remarks reflect a lack of confidence from a senior leader who secured a strong mandate in 2024. Critics argue that leaders should project optimism and focus on governance rather than expressing doubts about future electoral outcomes. Analysts also point out that welfare schemes alone do not ensure victory, as seen in the 2024 defeat of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, highlighting that governance and public perception also play key roles.
