Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has announced the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination following weeks of protests by students and job aspirants over alleged irregularities in the state’s recruitment examination system. The state government also decided to cancel examinations and recruitment-related activities conducted through TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL). The decision was announced after a Cabinet meeting on Monday and was welcomed by protesting students in Ranchi.
Soren also ordered a comprehensive investigation into irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted in Jharkhand since 2014. The government has announced separate mechanisms for examining the alleged irregularities and proposed reforms to make the recruitment process more transparent. The cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination is being seen as a major development for the protesting students, although some protesters continue to demand a CBI probe. Following the Chief Minister’s announcement, celebrations were reported among students in Ranchi.
