OpenAI appears to be undergoing a major transition, with several senior leaders announcing their departure this week. Among them are Bill Peebles and Srinivas Narayanan, signalling a broader organisational restructuring. These changes come as the company begins shifting its focus toward enterprise-driven products.
Bill Peebles, who led the development of Sora, confirmed his exit and expressed gratitude to CEO Sam Altman. Srinivas Narayanan, who worked on enterprise applications, also stepped down after nearly four years. Additionally, Kevin Weil has left as the science division is being decentralised. Reports also suggest that Kate Rouch and Brad Lightcap are transitioning into new roles.
The restructuring aligns with OpenAI’s strategic shift away from consumer-focused initiatives toward enterprise solutions. The company has reportedly discontinued the Sora app, paused certain platform features, and is focusing more on Codex to expand its presence in the enterprise market. This move is expected to strengthen its revenue model and position in the competitive AI industry.
