Tata Chemicals Responds to Kenya Operations Order

Tata Chemicals has responded after Kenyan President William Ruto ordered the company to suspend its operations in the country. The company said it has played a key role in Kenya’s economic development since 2005. It added that it remains committed to engaging with the Kenyan government to resolve pending matters.

Tata Chemicals said it has already submitted the information and relevant documents sought by the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs. The company stated that it had provided a comprehensive response to the issues raised by the government and was awaiting further directions. It reiterated its respect for the authority of the Kenyan government and said it was committed to resolving the matter through legal and regulatory channels. The company added that the interests of its employees, the Magadi community, its partners and Kenya’s economic development remain its priorities.
