Hyderabad-based Indian consumer technology brand Mivi, which has built its reputation with audio products, is now entering the smartphone market. The company has officially announced its first smartphone, the Mivi One 5G, with the handset scheduled to launch in India on September 24. Promotional teasers show the phone in a green colour variant with a dual rear-camera setup. Mivi has confirmed that the device will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 5G platform, although the complete specifications have not yet been revealed.
Mivi has also not officially announced the phone’s final price. However, reports suggest that the Mivi One 5G could be positioned in the sub-Rs. 15,000 segment, making it a potential budget 5G option. The smartphone will be sold through Flipkart. Founded by Midhula Devabhaktuni and Viswanadh Kandula, Mivi has established itself in the market with products such as earbuds, speakers and soundbars. Its smartphone entry comes as several homegrown consumer-tech brands expand beyond their traditional product categories.
