US Strikes Three Iranian Oil Tankers in Retaliation for Missile Attacks

The US military has said it carried out another major attack on Iranian oil tankers, destroying three vessels. According to the US, the strikes were launched in retaliation for missile attacks by Iran on American warships. Washington also warned that it could target and destroy Iran’s oil tanker fleet if necessary.

The US military alleged that the destroyed vessels played a key role for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and operated as part of a shadow network. It said American warships on patrol in the region evaded Iranian attacks. No US personnel were injured in the incident, according to the military.
