Googlebook Laptops Launch With Android Integration and Gemini AI Features

Google has announced Googlebook as a new category of laptops that combines Android’s technology stack with the desktop experience of ChromeOS. The company says the devices are designed around Gemini AI and offer deeper integration with Android smartphones. The initial lineup includes models from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo, with configurations featuring premium materials, displays of up to 2.8K resolution, dedicated NPUs and claimed battery life of up to 14 hours.

Googlebook laptops start at $899 and are available for pre-order in the US through the Google Store, Best Buy and select retailers. Sales are scheduled to begin in the US on October 4, followed by Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia on October 5. India availability has not yet been announced. Google is also bundling 12 months of Google AI Pro, 5TB of cloud storage and Gemini Advanced tools, along with three months of YouTube Premium and other benefits. Features include Continue On for resuming smartphone tasks on a laptop, Cast My Apps for using Android apps in desktop windows, Magic Pointer, Rambler for voice-to-formatted text, and Create My Widget for generating custom widgets. The platform also supports Android apps, creative software and gaming, while its security architecture includes Titan hardware-based protection and an isolated Linux environment.
