Prasad Reddy, who contested as a YSRCP councillor candidate but lost the election, has questioned the party’s decision to suspend him. In a video released on Wednesday, he claimed that he had lost because voters who accepted money from him did not vote in his favour. He appealed to those voters to return the money. After the video went viral, former Palamaner MLA Venkat Gowda announced that Prasad Reddy was being suspended from the party.
Responding to the action on Thursday, Prasad Reddy questioned the reason behind his suspension and said he had committed no mistake. He claimed that he had spent ₹7.5 lakh in accordance with election expenditure rules and had additionally paid ₹2.5 lakh towards food and transportation for his friends. Asking why he was being punished despite working hard for the party, he urged the leadership not to abandon dedicated party workers. He also appealed to the party to revoke his suspension.
