Union Minister Jitendra Singh has levelled serious allegations against the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and individuals associated with the organisation, claiming that it is receiving funds from foreign NGOs and anti-India networks to create unrest in the country. Speaking to the media in Bengaluru, he alleged that CJP founder Abhijeet Deepke has links with donors in the United States, while strategist Ashutosh Ranka is allegedly receiving financial support from Pakistani political leaders. Singh further claimed that foreign-funded NGOs, representatives of a so-called deep state and anti-India forces were working together to spread misinformation in India. The BJP has also criticised CJP’s recent protests, with party spokesperson Tuhin A. Sinha alleging that the demonstrations were intended to create unrest in Delhi during festive occasions and provoke rebellion. He also accused the Congress of targeting the judiciary.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has summoned CJP representative Saurabh Das and strategist Ashutosh Ranka for questioning over alleged violations of prohibitory orders, unauthorised entry into Jantar Mantar and trespassing. Police said the two were detained on October 10 and released after furnishing personal bonds of Rs. 50,000 each, along with written assurances to maintain peace for a year. They were subsequently accused of violating the bond conditions on October 13 by allegedly crossing police barricades and entering Jantar Mantar after permission for protests had been withdrawn. The Congress and other opposition leaders have rejected the Centre’s foreign-funding allegations. Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge questioned why the BJP had not made any evidence public to support its claims and sought explanations from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and intelligence agencies. The issue has now triggered a fresh political confrontation between the ruling party and the opposition.
