Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza Elected to AITA Executive Committee

Indian tennis stars Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza have secured positions on the executive committee of the All India Tennis Association (AITA). In the Executive Committee (EC) elections, Bhupathi received 23 votes, while Sania secured 18 votes, earning both former tennis champions places on the governing body.

Earlier, the duo had also been elected as representatives under the Sportspersons of Outstanding Merit (SOM) category in the AITA general body elections. Bhupathi received 19 votes and Sania secured 18. Ashutosh Singh, with 17 votes, and Shalini Thakur Chawla, with 16 votes, won the remaining two positions. Under the revised AITA rules, two men and two women can be elected as SOM representatives.
