The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted early morning searches at six residential locations across four districts of the Kashmir Valley on Friday. The raids were carried out in Budgam, Srinagar, Bijbehara and Mattan areas of Anantnag, and a village in Pulwama district. The operation was part of an investigation into an alleged Pakistan-backed terror recruitment network linked to an older case registered under FIR No. 07/2023 at the CIK Srinagar Police Station.
According to officials, the network allegedly used social media platforms to radicalise Kashmiri youth and recruit them into banned terrorist organisations. Investigators suspect that Pakistan-based handlers, in coordination with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and other banned outfits, were using digital platforms to spread provocative content and encourage young people to join terror groups. The searches were conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrates and in coordination with local police and revenue officials. Details of any recoveries, seized digital devices or detentions are yet to be disclosed. The operation is part of CIK's continuing efforts to dismantle online radicalisation and recruitment networks in the Valley.
