PV Sindhu added another golden chapter to Indian badminton by becoming the first Indian shuttler to win the prestigious Japan Open Super 750 title. Already the only Indian with two Olympic medals and the only Indian woman to win a BWF World Championships gold medal, Sindhu has once again etched her name in history. The victory also ended her four-year wait for a major title, marking a remarkable comeback after battling injuries and inconsistent performances over the past two seasons. Despite doubts over her future following a string of early exits, Sindhu proved that determination and resilience remain her greatest strengths.
Although some felt her path to the final became easier after Akane Okuhara withdrew and Chen Yufei retired midway through the semifinal, Sindhu had already displayed commanding performances against top-ranked opponents throughout the tournament. She maintained complete control in the final against Akane Yamaguchi, dominating from the opening rally and sealing a memorable victory. Sindhu also credited the unwavering support of her husband, V. Dutta Sai, who has been travelling with her during tournaments, assisting with match analysis and providing crucial mental support. Together with the encouragement of her sporting family, the triumph signals the beginning of another promising chapter in her illustrious career.
