New Delhi: Lok Sabha witnessed tense moments as Congress MP and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks sparked controversy. He commented on patriotism, asserting that the public knows who truly loves the country, and referenced the Ladakh standoff. Rahul also cited a passage from a book authored by former Army Chief Bipin Rawat.
The remarks were strongly opposed by Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, who criticized Rahul, pointing out that the book he referred to has not yet been published. Speaker Om Birla advised Rahul to speak specifically on the agenda related to the President’s address, but Rahul continued discussing the Doklam issue and the excerpt from the former Army Chief’s book.
As Rahul spoke, the Speaker cut off his microphone, leading to strong protests from Congress members. Rajnath Singh challenged Rahul’s statements, emphasizing that the book was unpublished, while Amit Shah questioned the whereabouts of the book and sought clarification. The incident created a charged atmosphere in the House, with members expressing their views passionately. Rahul’s remarks triggered a heated debate, highlighting the tensions in the Lok Sabha during the session.
