Special Sanitation Drive Held at Tirupati and Visakhapatnam Zoos

Special sanitation programmes were launched at the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park in Tirupati and the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in Visakhapatnam following the directions of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forests, Environment, Science and Technology Pawan Kalyan. The initiative aims to maintain cleaner and more eco-friendly zoo premises, provide a healthy environment for wildlife and offer visitors a better experience. Sanitation work was carried out in animal enclosures, visitor pathways, gardens, water bodies, resting areas, food distribution points and waste collection zones.

Officials will focus on waste segregation, removal of plastic waste, conservation of greenery and improving overall sanitation standards. Pawan Kalyan stressed that zoos should function not only as recreational spaces but also as important centres for wildlife conservation, biodiversity protection and environmental awareness. In view of the recent birth of 128 new animals through advanced incubation methods at Visakhapatnam Zoo, he appealed to corporates, industrialists, voluntary organisations and the public to come forward and adopt animals at both zoos. He called upon every citizen to treat wildlife conservation as a shared responsibility.
