Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has expressed strong displeasure over alleged irregularities in the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC). He has directed officials to take stringent action against fund leakages, unauthorized collections, and alleged party fund-related activities within the organization.
The decisions were taken during the first Cabinet meeting chaired by Vijay after assuming office as Chief Minister. The meeting, held on Friday, focused on several key issues concerning TASMAC. According to reliable sources, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that every rupee generated through liquor sales is deposited directly into the state treasury.
Reports indicate that nearly ₹102 crore is being diverted every month from TASMAC through unauthorized "party fund" collections. Government officials informed the Chief Minister that as much as ₹1,600 crore may have been siphoned away from the state exchequer over the past five years. They also alleged that the previous DMK government had used TASMAC for political gains.
Vijay has ordered the immediate dismantling of long-standing unofficial cash collection systems operating within TASMAC's wholesale and retail networks. The government is expected to implement stricter monitoring mechanisms to improve transparency and accountability in liquor sales and revenue collection.
