Andhra Pradesh para swimmer Balaga Ganesh Master has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new world record in para swimming. He swam 12 kilometres across Lake Constance, which stretches between Germany and Switzerland, without wearing a wetsuit. Ganesh Master completed the distance in 5 hours, 14 minutes and 13 seconds, breaking the previous record of 5 hours and 33 minutes held by Germany’s Sven Eckardt. AP Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh congratulated him on the achievement.
Lokesh said Ganesh Master’s accomplishment has taken Andhra Pradesh’s sporting reputation to the global stage. He noted that Ganesh, who was selected as a teacher through the state government’s Mega DSC-2025 recruitment, has now created another milestone in para swimming. Praising his determination, rigorous training and ability to overcome challenging circumstances, Lokesh said the achievement would inspire many others. He extended his best wishes to Ganesh Master and expressed hope that he would continue bringing greater recognition to the state and the country through his sporting achievements.
