Ishan Kishan is known for his aggressive batting and ability to make an impact in the No. 3 position. He can attack from the powerplay and maintain a healthy scoring rate while building an innings. However, his performances in overseas conditions have raised questions about his consistency. In the recent T20 matches against New Zealand, England and Ireland, Kishan scored 1 and 0 against New Zealand, 56, 4, 13 and 49 against England, and 1 and 12 against Ireland. Although he has scored 1,159 runs in 36 T20 matches this year, he has managed only 135 runs in his last eight overseas innings.
Kishan's record in SENA countries — South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia — also highlights the challenge. He has scored just 177 runs in 10 T20 matches in these countries, with only one half-century. Having scored 1,955 runs in 68 T20 internationals, he will need to adapt better to pace and bounce, particularly with shot selection. The challenge becomes more significant as the 2027 ODI World Cup and the 2028 T20 World Cup are scheduled to be hosted in SENA countries. Strong performances in the remaining matches against New Zealand and any opportunities in the upcoming ODI series could help him build confidence ahead of these major tournaments.
