Minister Seethakka has directed officials to take measures to ensure rainwater is effectively harvested and recharged into the ground. She instructed them to complete the construction of recharge pits and magic pits within two days. She also called for awareness campaigns at the village level on the impact of El Niño and the importance of conserving water. The minister said that ₹120 crore had been sanctioned to meet alternative drinking water requirements through Singur in view of the El Niño conditions.
Seethakka said special funds had been allocated to Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy and Nizamabad districts. An allocation of ₹1 crore each had also been made to other districts to address immediate drinking water needs. She instructed officials to make alternative arrangements to ensure uninterrupted water supply. Tankers should be deployed in areas facing water shortages, while hand pumps, wells and other local water sources should be kept accessible. She also called for continuous monitoring of water levels in reservoirs to ensure adequate drinking water availability.
