South African pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada has created a world record in Test cricket. During the third Test against Australia, Rabada dismissed Travis Head to become the fastest bowler, in terms of balls bowled, to claim 350 or more Test wickets. He reached the milestone in just 13,808 deliveries, surpassing the previous record held by fellow South African Dale Steyn, who took 14,719 balls. Playing his 75th Test, Rabada has added another remarkable achievement to his career.
Rabada is now among the four South African bowlers to have taken at least 350 Test wickets. The others are Dale Steyn with 439 wickets, Shaun Pollock with 421 and Makhaya Ntini with 390. In terms of the number of matches taken to reach the 350-wicket mark, Rabada shares fourth place with Malcolm Marshall. Richard Hadlee and Dale Steyn achieved the feat in 69 Tests, Dennis Lillee in 70 and Glenn McGrath in 74. Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan remains the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, with 800 wickets from 133 matches.
