Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced that he has married journalist Nidhi Razdan. Sharing photographs with Razdan on social media, Abdullah said that a “new journey” had begun on October 30. Reports citing sources said the marriage took place under the Special Marriage Act, with members of both families attending ceremonies in Delhi and Srinagar.
Omar Abdullah married Payal Abdullah in 1994, and the couple have two sons. He announced their separation in 2011, and they have lived apart since then. After their divorce petitions were rejected by a family court and subsequently by the Delhi High Court, the matter reached the Supreme Court. In July this year, the apex court approved their divorce after being informed that the couple had resolved their matrimonial dispute through mediation. Omar’s announcement comes around three months after that development.
