India’s women’s team, fresh from winning the Asia Cup title, received an unexpected setback as young pacer Kranti Goud was penalised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). She was fined 10% of her match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka.
Level-1 Code of Conduct violations can attract an official warning or a fine of up to 50% of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points. The demerit point awarded to Kranti Goud is her first in the last 24 months.
