Karnataka’s 15-year-old cricketer Uma Kashvi created a record at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 mini-auction by becoming the youngest player to be sold. Delhi Capitals secured the right-handed batter and off-spin bowler for Rs. 10 lakh. Uma impressed in the BCCI Women’s Under-15 One-Day Tournament, scoring 516 runs at an average of 172, including three centuries and a half-century. She has also represented India Under-19 against Sri Lanka Under-19, taking wickets in both T20 and One-Day matches. Her ability to contribute with both bat and ball makes her a promising young prospect for Delhi Capitals.
Australian all-rounder Sophie Molineux attracted the highest bid of the auction, with UP Warriorz signing her for Rs. 1.10 crore after competition from Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Indian batter Kiran Navgire was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs. 75 lakh, while young wicketkeeper-batter G. Kamalini joined Gujarat Giants for her base price of Rs. 40 lakh. A total of 25 players were sold during the mini-auction, which concluded in less than an hour. The auction offered opportunities to emerging talent such as Uma while also bringing experienced international and domestic players into the spotlight.
