Indian wrestlers Kajal Dochak and Neelam Sirohi created a sensation by reaching the finals of the World Wrestling Championship, but both had to settle for silver medals. In the women’s 76 kg final held on Wednesday, Kajal lost 6–8 to Ukraine’s Anastasiia Alpeieva in a closely contested bout. Despite putting up a strong fight, the young Indian wrestler narrowly missed out on the gold medal.
In the women’s 50 kg final, Neelam Sirohi faced Japan’s celebrated wrestler Yui Susaki, the Tokyo Olympics champion. Susaki secured victory without conceding a single point, underlining her dominance in the bout. Although Kajal and Neelam fell short of gold, their impressive runs to the finals marked a significant achievement for Indian wrestling.
