Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has launched a free online coaching initiative called PSR Yuva Nestham through the PSR Charitable Trust. The programme aims to help unemployed young people prepare for competitive examinations by providing one year of online training in collaboration with the reputed RC Exams organisation. Speaking at the launch event held at the Secretariat on his birthday, the minister said the initiative was designed to ensure that financial difficulties, coaching fees and distance from training centres do not prevent young people from pursuing their career goals. He added that the programme could provide free online coaching to lakhs of aspirants. Ponguleti also announced that the state government plans to fill another 15,000 vacancies through upcoming recruitment notifications. He said 72,000 government jobs had already been filled. Recalling an earlier coaching initiative launched in the Khammam region after he was elected as an MP in 2014, he said 462 candidates had secured jobs in various government departments through that programme.
The minister also said the issue of house sites for journalists came up during his meeting with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who had reportedly agreed to work towards resolving it before next Diwali. Ponguleti further criticised BRS leaders over their comments on democracy and the right to protest, recalling the removal of the Dharna Chowk at Indira Park during the previous government. He said the Congress government had restored the protest venue after coming to power. Responding to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s proposed march in Hyderabad on November 2, he questioned the BJP’s approach to protests in Telangana while alleging that opposition demonstrations faced restrictions in Delhi. He also criticised the reported denial of additional railway coaches for Congress and INDIA bloc supporters travelling to Delhi for a rally on November 1, demanding a comprehensive review of the SIR process and protection of eligible citizens’ voting rights.
