A fire broke out in a room at the Savannah River National Laboratory in South Carolina, a facility associated with the US Department of Energy. Officials said the incident occurred on Wednesday evening, raising concerns about a possible radiation leak. However, the fire was brought under control within approximately two hours, according to the information provided by authorities.
Officials stated that no radioactive material was released outside the affected building and that the impact remained confined to the laboratory premises. They said there was no danger to members of the public outside the facility. As a precaution, access routes to the laboratory were closed and movement in nearby areas was restricted.
