India has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating security situation in West Asia amid the ongoing conflict. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that 22 Indian nationals have lost their lives in connection with the hostilities so far, including 14 seafarers. The information was shared by MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during a media briefing on Wednesday. The deaths have raised concerns about the safety of Indian citizens living and working across the region, particularly those employed in maritime operations.
The ministry said Indian diplomatic missions in Gulf countries are maintaining regular contact with Indian nationals to monitor their safety and welfare and provide assistance where necessary. Jaiswal also confirmed that three Indian nationals had died in Saudi Arabia. The government continues to closely monitor developments as security conditions remain uncertain. Indian missions are engaging with the local authorities and the Indian community to address concerns and provide support. The situation highlights the risks faced by Indians residing or working in areas affected by the conflict.
