Vedanta Group, led by billionaire Anil Agarwal, is planning to invest around ₹60,000 crore in a power generation project in West Bengal. The proposed investment could create approximately 10,000 jobs and provide a boost to the state’s industrial sector. The plan comes ahead of West Bengal’s new industrial policy, which is scheduled to be unveiled on November 5. If implemented, the project is expected to strengthen the state’s power infrastructure and support industrial development.
The proposed investment could also create fresh opportunities in the energy and manufacturing sectors as West Bengal seeks to attract major businesses and expand employment. With states competing to secure large private investments, the Vedanta proposal could contribute to the region’s economic activity. However, the project’s implementation will depend on the necessary approvals and the company’s execution plans. If the proposal moves forward, it could bring additional investment and employment opportunities to local communities.
