Demand for CNG vehicles is growing in India, particularly among customers looking for fuel-efficient cars for their families. Toyota’s Rumion CNG is gaining attention in the seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle segment, competing with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Kia Carens. According to the reported sales figures, the Rumion recorded 2,079 CNG unit sales in September, up from 475 units in September last year. It also led Toyota’s CNG model sales during the month, ahead of models such as the Hyryder, Taisor and Glanza.
The Toyota Rumion shares its platform with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol-CNG engine. In CNG mode, the engine produces 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Toyota claims a mileage of 26.11 km/kg for the CNG version. The S MT CNG variant has a reported starting ex-showroom price of Rs. 11.69 lakh. Features include a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connectivity, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and Toyota i-Connect technology. Safety equipment includes dual front airbags, hill-hold assist, electronic stability control, seat-belt reminders, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child-seat mounts. Buyers should check the latest variant details, prices and availability with an authorised Toyota dealer.
