Actor Prakash Raj on April 29, 2026, reacted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s football session with children in Gangtok, Sikkim. Sharing a photo from April 28, he praised the Prime Minister but urged him to attend Parliament with MPs and allies to ensure the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill. He stated that Opposition MPs and the nation are waiting, using the hashtag just asking, which quickly gained traction online.
The reaction comes after the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, aimed at fast-tracking women’s reservation, failed in the Lok Sabha on April 17. Though it secured 298 votes, it fell short of the required two-thirds majority. Opposition parties argued they support women’s reservation but opposed linking it with delimitation, citing concerns over reduced representation for southern states. The original Women’s Reservation Bill passed in 2023 is yet to be implemented, as it depends on the next Census and delimitation process.
