Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu recalled his release from prison on the same day three years ago, describing the 53 days in custody as one of the most difficult periods of his political career. He alleged that the then government had arrested him in the middle of the night in Nandyal without issuing prior notice because it could not tolerate his questions about its governance. Naidu said public support and the people’s protest had thwarted what he described as a conspiracy against him. He added that he would always cherish the love, affection and trust shown by the people.
Minister Nara Lokesh described the day of Chandrababu Naidu’s release as an unforgettable moment and said it marked the triumph of truth and justice. He stated that Telugu people across the world had celebrated when Naidu was released after 53 days in prison following what he called a false case. Lokesh said Naidu had emerged from prison amid cheers from the public and alleged that his arrest had been driven by political vendetta.
