Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has reportedly instructed the country's military to launch immediate retaliatory strikes in response to any attacks by the United States or Israel, regardless of the location. Local media reported that he also called for updating the list of targets linked to US and Israeli assets. Additionally, Khamenei reportedly directed the military to increase the production of ammunition and weapons, strengthen military intelligence and enhance the country's indigenous defence capabilities.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a new proposal had been worked out with mediators to reduce the time required to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz to two days. The United States had earlier rejected Iran's proposal to reopen the strategic waterway within a week. Speaking to a news agency, Araghchi described Washington's efforts to pursue broader negotiations as a positive step. He said Iran had carefully reviewed a letter sent by US Vice President JD Vance regarding peace talks. He added that Tehran would decide whether to hold direct or indirect negotiations if Washington agreed to Iran's conditions.
