An unusual incident took place at Maharashtra’s state secretariat, Mantralaya, where a rat gave officials a tough time for three days before finally being caught. The incident reportedly became a talking point among secretariat staff and on social media. Employees spotted the rodent moving around a room that housed important files and communication equipment, prompting officials to take immediate action to capture it.
Officials initially tried to trap the rat using cages baited with food, but their attempts proved unsuccessful. They eventually placed food on glue traps, which helped them catch the rodent. Rat infestation is not new to Mantralaya. In 2018, the authorities had formed a special six-member team to tackle the problem. At the time, the team reportedly caught an average of ten rats every day.
