BRS working president and former minister KTR sharply criticized the concentration of power and wealth while addressing a trade union meeting in Hyderabad. Using the ongoing IndiGo crisis as an example, he said when aviation sector control remains in the hands of just one or two players, rules are ignored, leading to public suffering. He pointed out that DGCA had issued pilot rest guidelines over a year ago, but dominant airlines like IndiGo and Tata Group disregarded them, resulting in the current flight cancellations and delays.
KTR extended the argument to political power, indirectly targeting the Centre for withdrawing its own recent directives only after “hands got burnt” due to public backlash over IndiGo chaos. He warned that when authority, capital, and institutions are monopolized by a few, such situations are inevitable. Meanwhile, the Central government has responded by arranging special trains as an alternative and promised to continue them until the aviation issue is resolved.
