The coastal city of Visakhapatnam has suddenly become the center of attention across India. Over the past few weeks, several global tech giants — including TCS, Google, Meta, Cognizant, Accenture, Sify, and Sattva — have announced major investments in Vizag, with plans to set up data centers and software development hubs worth nearly $60 billion.Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh have been actively promoting Vizag as the future AI and technology capital of India. Their determined efforts are now paying off, putting Vizag on the map as a major digital hub. When Nara Lokesh took charge, he made one daring move that changed everything — allocating government land to TCS at just 99 paise. While some criticized this policy and even took it to court, Lokesh stood firm, believing it would attract more companies to the region.
Speaking to the media, Lokesh revealed that this very decision encouraged other companies like Google, Cognizant, and Accenture to collaborate with the Andhra Pradesh government. He called this period the most exciting and transformative time for Vizag’s economy, and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for full cooperation, describing it as a “Double Engine Sarkar on a bullet train.”Lokesh also expressed confidence that Vizag will achieve in 10 years what took Hyderabad 30 years — a bold vision that symbolizes the city’s unstoppable rise in the tech landscape.
